Geothermal Energy: An Inexhaustible Source of Heat in the Grand Est Region

The roundtable will provide an opportunity to discuss the project in Schwabwiller (Bas-Rhin), about 50 kilometers from Strasbourg, where the company Lithium de France is drilling two wells with a dual industrial and economic objective: to use geothermal heat from the subsurface to generate energy and to extract lithium from hot brine to supply electric battery manufacturers. More broadly, the discussion will cover the potential of geothermal energy in the Grand Est region and the work of the Reisol Chair.
